Ludwig (Michael) Brewery is built.

It is located at the corner of Washington and Plymouth (later Hunneman) Streets. The first German brewery in Boston, it subsequently moves to Roxbury Crossing, where it brews the first lager beer in Boston. Eventually, some two dozen breweries operate in Boston.
